In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, student financial and academic records may not be shared with a third party without written consent.
Students have two options for granting others access to their Student Financial Services information. Proxy Access allows a student to give someone permission to view and discuss financial aid and Federal tax information. Authorized Payer Access allows a student to give someone permission to view and discuss their current billing account and charges, make payments, and enroll and in a monthly payment plan. Students may set up multiple Proxies and/or Authorized Payers, depending on the type of information they wish to share.
Student Financial Services encourages students to set up both, Proxy and Authorized Payer access for those who are helping to support your educational journey.

Instructions for a new Proxy
Proxy Access allows a parent or supporter to view certain student financial information (financial aid and Federal tax information, and statement history dated November 2025 and prior).
Getting Started
When your student establishes you as a Proxy, you will receive 1-3 separate emails with instructions to activate your access.
All 3 emails are sent from: SFSTechFA@uvm.edu
- Email with the subject line: UVM proxy initial setup notice
This email contains an initial password, which you will use at the one-time link provided in email 2. - Email with the subject line: UVM proxy initial access notice

Troubleshooting
Proxy Access: Important email delivery notice for Comcast users
We have identified an issue affecting some individuals who use a Comcast email address when setting up Proxy Access or resetting their PIN. In these cases, emails from the Proxy Access system - such as setup or PIN reset messages - may not be delivered by the email provider.
To avoid delays or access issues, we strongly recommend using a non-Comcast email address when setting up or updating Proxy Access.
If you are using a Comcast email please contact our office at sfs@uvm.edu for assistance.
