Restoration is a complex field that operates by setting projects into motion and letting natural patterns guide the results. It is also a young and developing field, with new discoveries and methods being introduced all the time.

Forest restoration is a complex field that is young and still developing. There are new discoveries and methods being introduced all the time!

These features make people like today’s guests, who have all been working on riparian restoration projects for at least a decade, sources of helpful perspective and guidance. Join my conversation with Shawn White from Friends of Winooski River, Ron Rhodes from the Connecticut River Conservancy, Mike Kline from Fluvial Matters, and Chris Smith from the US Fish and Wildlife Service to learn about how far they’ve seen this work come as well as how far they hope it will go.

In many episodes, we have discussed new things, but stopping to look at how far restoration efforts have come is valuable as well. Join us as we discuss the evolution of habitat science and buffer planting, the onset of new challenges, and the hopes for headwaters and cooperation in the future.
