BIO

Mercedes is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to the United States in 2018. She earned a B.S. in Fisheries, Range, and Wildlife Management from BYU–Idaho and an M.S. in Fisheries Science from South Dakota State University, where she developed a wetland condition index and environmental metrics framework to evaluate wetlands in the Prairie Pothole Region. At UVM, she studies nearshore fish communities in Lake Champlain and is developing a baseline monitoring framework for long-term research on the relative abundance of fish communities.
