Five Rubenstein School students, Brittany LeBeau, Jacqui Cardoza, Sammy Chandhok, Bayla Fisher, and Grace Scorpio, spent their UVM Alternative Spring Break at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. They volunteered to assist National Park Service staff in cleaning up the parks, sites, and beaches in readiness for the busy summer tourism season ahead. They also had time to visit many of the local sites and attractions.
"During the trip, I was able to meet and work with incredible people who have a passion for protecting and conserving the environment," states Bayla Fisher. "I have learned different job opportunities in the National Park Service. I would encourage anyone to participate in Alternative Spring Break because it opens new perspectives."
