A note about the former Domestic Abuse and Violence Prevention and Response policy: It is an essential goal of the University to provide and maintain a safe campus for all members of its community, free from violence and threats of violence. The University's commitment to the prevention of, and response to, relationship violence, which includes both domestic and dating violence, is now addressed by the University's Sexual Misconduct Policy pursuant to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013.

In January 2014 all University policies have been edited and revised as necessary to reflect the following:

  1. The Responsible Official designations have been updated to reflect the administration reorganization implemented in July 2013. The revised policy responsible official designations have been approved by President Sullivan.
  2. The separate Strategic Direction section has been removed from the policies. This section is no longer part of the policy template. Policies will continue to be aligned with and support the University's vision, mission and goals.
  3. The policy numbering convention has been streamlined. In lieu of a separate first digit for each responsible official, the initial digit now represents the President, Provost or a Vice President. All policies reflecting responsible officials that report to these positions will be combined under the same first digit. Version numbers will be retained. For more information on the new policy numbering convention please refer to the Policy Process page.
