Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

How will I know when the sale goes live?

Body

Keep an eye on your email and our website for announcements. Current Larner students will receive an email notification from your Larner Medical Student Council as soon as the sale is live. However, you can also reach out to the UVM Bookstore, or check the UVM Bookstore website during the month of October (there is always a link to the sale on the UVM Bookstore homepage during the annual ordering window).

How do I know my order was placed?

Body

After you’ve entered payment information during checkout, you will be prompted to click the green Review Your Order button. If everything looks correct, you must then click the green Place My Order Button. You will be taken to a receipt screen that summarizes your order information, including a unique six digit order number. Please note that order number for future reference. An electronic copy of your order information, including your order number, will also be emailed to the email address you provided with the order. If you do not see an order number on your screen or do not receive an email with your order information, please contact the UVM Bookstore as your order was not successfully submitted.

Can I place an order once the deadline has passed?

Body

Unfortunately, orders cannot be placed after the deadline, and we cannot make any exceptions to this. This strict deadline ensures that we can process and deliver all orders in a timely manner, especially considering the special-order nature of the products and the embroidery process.

We encourage you to place your order well before the deadline to ensure you don’t forget and miss out on this once a year opportunity.

How are the brands for the apparel sale chosen?

Body

The selection of L.L.Bean as a primary brand was initially influenced by our proximity to Maine and by the company’s wide assortment of sizes.

Additionally, we have included local brands like Thuja and Skida in response to student body requests, aiming to diversify the types of items offered and support local businesses.

If you have suggestions for future brand collaborations, we encourage you to reach out to the Larner Medical Student Council with your ideas.

I prefer a different brand for winter apparel; could I just purchase an item and get it embroidered myself?

Body

No, this is not allowed; doing so would be in violation of UVM Licensing Policy. The University has contracts with vendors to ensure the integrity of their brand. Licensing approval is required to put any UVM logo, including Larner College of Medicine marks, on any product. Learn more, including how to request licensing use approval, at the UVM Licensing website…

Can I return or exchange items for a different size?

Body

No, as this is a special-order project, items purchased cannot be returned or exchanged for size. Please choose size and color of items carefully.

How can I be sure about the sizes?

Body

To ensure the best fit for your Larner Apparel, we offer several options:

  •  Online Sizing Guides: For all brands, we recommend referring to the sizing guides available on their website. This can provide a good initial estimate of the size that would suit you best.
  • In-Store Fitting: If you prefer to try on items before purchasing,
    • L.L.Bean, 69 Market St, Williston, VT 05495 (888-307-7305)
    • Skida, 6 Kilburn St #116, Burlington, VT 05401 (802-540-8100)
    • Thuja Outdoor Clothing, 55 Leroy Rd Unit 2, Williston, VT 05495 (802-444-1423)

Are sizes and colors guaranteed?

Body

Sizes and colors are subject to availability. The website displays anticipated inventory, but availability will be confirmed after the order is submitted. If there are issues, the UVM Bookstore will contact you with alternative options.

Why are the prices higher than on the L.L.Bean website?

Body

The slight price increase accounts for embroidery, shipping costs, university licensing fees, and bookstore overhead. Most items are about $10-12 over the blank cost listed on the website.

When will my credit card be charged?

Body

All orders will be batch-processed after the order window closes. Your credit card will not be charged immediately, and the product will not be available for immediate pick-up or shipment.

Orders may be modified or canceled up until the order deadline: Since you will not be charged for your order until the order deadline passes, if you need to change or cancel an order, you may contact the UVM Bookstore to do so.

Should I trust the order confirmation email regarding shipping or pick-up?

Body

No, please ignore any premature email confirmations about shipping or pick-up. Orders typically arrive prior to the winter break. The UVM Bookstore will communicate through email when your items are ready for pick-up at the Bookstore, or you will receive a tracking email from USPS, FedEx, or UPS.

Who should I contact if I have any questions about the apparel sale?

Body

For any inquiries regarding the apparel sale, please reach out to your Larner Medical Student Council and/or the UVM Bookstore; we can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have about your order or the sale in general.

What should I do if I cannot afford an item but would like to participate in the sale?

Body

Our goal is to make sure that all students can showcase their UVM Larner pride, regardless of financial circumstances. In that spirit, your Medical Student Council established The Student Apparel Donation Program, which aims to provide a certain amount of funding to students for whom the cost of the apparel is a barrier to engaging in the annual sale. This fund was established in hopes of ensuring everyone has the opportunity to engage in our annual apparel purchasing opportunity. A certain amount of funding will be made available on an annual basis to students in need; the Medical Student Council will provide instructions within apparel communications on if and how students can apply for these funds if and when available.

How can I donate to support students who wish to participate in the annual apparel sale?

Body

Anyone interested in supporting current Larner students to be a part of the annual apparel sale can generously contribute by donating funds. Your donations will help ensure that all students have the opportunity to enjoy and participate in this cherished college tradition. To make a donation, simply click on the "Donate Today" button. Your support makes a significant difference and is greatly appreciated by our student community.
