Match Day at Larner

For medical students nationwide, Match Day is the culmination of several years of hard work, and many consider it the most exciting day of the medical school experience. Students receive notice of their residency matches starting at 12:00 P.M. (EDT) on the third Friday of March each year.

Match Day 2026

Match Day 2026 will be on Friday, March 20 in the Grand Maple Ballroom at the UVM Davis Center. The Class of 2026 will enter the ballroom at 11:40 A.M., followed by brief remarks from student and College of Medicine leaders. Names will be called to announce matches beginning at 12 P.M.

Body

Match Day will be held in the Grand Maple Ballroom at the Davis Center at the University of Vermont. Students participating in Match Day should meet at the base of the stairs to the 4th floor at 11:15 A.M. on March 20th.

Members of the Class of 2026 have several options for how to participate in Match Day:

Open your envelope on stage and announce your match over the microphone.
Open your envelope privately (not on stage) and return to the stage later to announce your match.
Take your envelope and open it privately.
Receive your envelop from the Office of Medical Education after the event is over.

Students may have someone come on stage with them to announce their match.

After all members of the Class of 2026 have announced their match they are invited to place a pin in the "Match Map", a tradition at the Larner College of Medicine. There will also be signs that say "I Matched in _______ at ________" for those who wish to celebrate and take a photo. The map and signs will be located in the back of the Grand Maple ballroom at the Davis Center.

Parking

Parking for Match Day guests will be available in two locations, the Jeffords East Lower Lot (JELL) or in any available space in the Gutterson Parking Garage. Guests parking in the JELL lot must pay to park using the Park Mobile app using zone 6115 regardless of UVM permit status. Guests parking at the Gutterson Parking Garage without a valid UVM parking permit must pay to park using the Park Mobile app using zone 6001.

Shuttle

A dedicated shuttle will be available to bring guests directly to the Davis Center from the shuttle stop located in front of the Patrick Gym complex. The dedicated shuttle will run from 10:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. and resume from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. The regular on campus shuttle will also be available, but will make several additional stops and will drop off at the the Davis South shuttle stop and not in front of the Davis Center. The Davis South shuttle stop is a short walk from the Davis Center. Guest riding the regular campus shuttle should only board the On-Campus shuttle, do not take the Catamount Gold shuttle as this route includes off-campus stops. Track the on-campus shuttle

Watching Match Day in Person

Match Day will take place in the Grand Maple Ballroom at the UVM Davis Center.
