Effective today, June 30, 2004, CIT will no longer offer support for computers running Windows 98, or for applications that are part of Microsoft Office 97 or 98.

Please note that these products will continue to function. However, CIT staff and services are no longer available to answer questions or address problems with these products. Future service offerings will not be available to clients using unsupported operating systems.

The IT Standards Workgroup adopted the following recommendations in 2002, in alignment with Microsoft product lifecycle policy:

• Support for Window 98 will end effective June 30, 2004
• Support for Microsoft Office 97 will end effective June 30, 2004
• Support for Microsoft Office 98 for Macintosh will end effective June 30, 2004

This change in support policy has been announced in the 2002 Standards Announcement, the 2003 Standards Announcement, the 2004 Standards Announcement, and the UVM IT Newsletter.
