The University of Vermont is committed to leading with intention and impact in the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

As AI continues to transform education, research, and society, UVM is actively shaping its approach through inclusive, strategic, and forward-thinking efforts.

Under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer, the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, and the University Provost, UVM has established a university-wide AI Taskforce. This taskforce meets regularly and is supported by seven working groups focused on key areas: Strategy, Governance, Technology, Research & Administration, Workforce, Faculty Development, and AI in the Curriculum. These groups bring together voices from across campus to ensure our approach reflects the diverse needs and strengths of our community. To learn more about the taskforce and priority initiatives, visit the UVM AI Team website.

In the coming weeks, we will launch the AI Innovation Fund, designed to inspire creative thinking and support projects that advance AI’s role in amplifying UVM’s impact. Sponsored by Enterprise Technology Services, this initiative aligns with our institutional values and priorities, including those outlined in Amplifying Our Impact and Our Common Ground. Details on how to apply for funding will be shared soon.

We look forward to seeing how our community continues to lead in this space. In the coming weeks, we will be looking to visit and partner with our governance groups, eager to get your input and consult on your ideas to support this important work.
