As some of you may have heard by bits and pieces, Janet
Cottrell, has accepted an offer to become Director of
Information Access at Kenyon College, in Ohio.
At Kenyon, Information Access is a department of the
Library and Information Services division, a combined
library and computing services organization. Information
Access provides inter-library loan, circulation
(including course reserves and stacks maintenance),
audio-visual services, computing labs and classrooms,
classroom technology, the computer helpline, and support
of student computing in the residence halls. The
Director has a special responsibility to serve as an
advocate for students as users of library and
information services, and manages the library as a
facility. The department has eleven full-time and two
part-time staff members, and a large number of student
employees.
The Director reports to the Vice President for Library
and Information Services and serves with the Vice
President and four other directors as part of the
management and leadership team for the division.
This is, as I'm sure we all agree, a fantastic career
opportunity for Janet, and we wish her greatest success.
During the month of September, she will be managing the
transition between UVM and Kenyon, with her "official"
last day being September 30th. Stay tuned to this
channel for more information about this transition.
