Nash Stream Forest Carbon Report
Authors: Alison Adams, Soren Donisvitch, Larissa Robinov
This report provides a comprehensive assessment of carbon dynamics at Nash Stream State Forest using 28 years of harvest records, Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) data, FIA-informed growth modeling, and detailed accounting of harvested wood products and transport emissions. The analysis evaluates whether current management maintains the forest as a net carbon sink, compares modeled sequestration to observed removals, and examines how unharvested areas contribute to long-term carbon sustainability. Results are presented in alignment with FEMC’s Pisgah carbon framework, allowing direct comparison across New Hampshire state lands and offering managers a clear, data-driven understanding of forest carbon behavior under ongoing silvicultural practices.
