Current Methods
Dendrochonology
Extracted two tree cores per tree perpendicular to dominant slope at stem DBH.
Instrumentation: 5 mm increment borer
Tree ring measurement and crossdating
Tree rings were measured to nearest 0.001 mm using Velmex sliding stage set up and crossdated using the list method
Instrumentation: Velmex sliding stage apparatus, microscope
Software: COFECHA
Quality Control Measures: Cores were rejected if they did not correlate to the master (under the critical threshold)
Climate correlations
Bootstrapped response function analysis over the common period of 1925-2012
Software: dplR and treeclim packages for R
Quality Control Measures: alpha value set to 0.01 to account for multiple correlations
