The Department of Mathematics and Statistics recognizes that strong advising is an important component to student success. We want each student majoring in our department to have the guidance of a faculty member who is concerned about each advisee’s academic plan and long-term plan, beyond her/his undergraduate degree. We expect that each student in our majors meets regularly with her/his designated advisor.

The advisor can offer additional lines of referrals, services, and support for academic success.

If your advisor is not working for you, due to schedules or interest areas, please let us know! We want each advisor/advisee team to work out well. If you have a preferred advisor, please check with her/him to see if (s)he is taking on more advisees. If so, then we will gladly add your name to that faculty member’s advising roster.

Ideally, your advisor is your go-to for academic issues.
