Lynn Ellen Schimoler is a Vermont-based dance artist and educator. Her particular focus is exploration of the choreographic process; video and dance, site-specific, improvisational/ compositional movement forms and the intersection of dance and live music. She received a BA in dance from Bennington College where she also studied music theory and percussion with Milford Graves. She has a deep interest in Dunham technique and was a student of Congolese/Haitian Forms with Pat Hall-Smith (NYC), Sandor Diabankouezi (Berkeley CA) and Lavinia Williams (Haiti). She has been a dance educator in New England for over twenty years, including teaching for VT Governor’s Institute on the Arts, Dartmouth College, Bennington College’s July Program, the University of Vermont Continuing Education, and the Flynn Performing Center for the Arts. She has danced in the works of numerous chorographers including Terry Creach, Arthur Hall, Keith Thompson, Peggy Florin and Ann Carlson.
