Department of Speech and Debate, Lecturer

George is joining the Lawrence Debate Union after spending the last year at St. John’s University, his alma mater, after one year as an Adjunct Professor. He competed for the St. John’s University Debate Society from 2009-2011, and became one half of the first team to win a Worlds format tournament after winning the 2010 Huber Debates. In addition to this, George broke at both the 2010 and 2011 USUDC, reaching the quarterfinals in 2010, and also competed at the 2011 WUDC in Botswana. Originally intending to become a stockbroker after college, but absolutely hating it, George found his way back to debate through joining the LBJ Debate Society at Texas State University as a Graduate Assistant from 2015-2017. While at Texas State, he gained his MA in Communication Studies with focus on subjects such as rhetoric, media criticism, and political communication. In addition to debate, George spends his time watching baseball, playing flag football, and taking excessive amounts of pictures of his pets. He strongly recommends you follow his adorable kitten, Bender, on Instagram (@BiteMyShinyMetalCat).
