Matthew B. Reuter, a 4th year chemistry graduate student at the University of Vermont in the Waterman Research Group, was recently awarded a Grant in Aid of Research (GIAR) by Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Honor Society for $1,000 to cover associated proposal costs through June 2021 to July 2022. His proposal, entitled “A Method for Phosphorus-Element Bond Formation via Catalytic Phosphinidene Transfer”, will explore and develop a general methodology to transfer low-valent phosphinidene fragments from readily synthesized phosphorus starting materials such as (PR)5 rings.
