Ice Cream icons Ben and Jerry helped celebrate the new University of Vermont Dairy Bar replica at Chikago Landing. The new Dairy Bar includes seven counter stools from UVM's original beloved Dairy Bar which, like Ben & Jerry's, was originally a Burlington born purveyor of made-from-scratch homemade ice cream.
During festivities on Oct. 6, donors and alumni raised an ice cream cup or two to mark donations benefitting the dairy bar and UVM CREAM Program's Brett Klein Memorial Fund. Chikago Landing at the Davis Center is named for this group of UVM alumni who, during their senior year in 1975, created their own informal fraternity known as "Chikago International." Chikago Landing features photographs taken during occasional reunion get-togethers over the past 30 years and the stools from the Dairy Bar. The Dairy Bar operated from 1950 to 1995 from the Carrigan Dairy Science Building. The Carrigan Building stood for 57 years (until 2006) near where the Davis Center was built.
