For the second time in University of Vermont (UVM) history, both the men's and women's basketball teams won the America East Championship to advance to the 2023 NCAA tournament in the same season, and students from the Grossman School of Business (GSB) have contributed to their teams' success.
GSB students including Marie Myklebust, Paula Gonzalez, and first-year Bella Vito are on the women’s basketball team, and Matt Vereto, Nick Florillo, and Ileri Ayo-Faleye play with the men’s team. As well our Sports Management Minors Ben Platt and Jensen Daly are student managers for the team.
Their focus and commitment both on and off the court is apparent. The women's basketball team has won 17 straight games, the America East regular season title and the America East Championship. The men's basketball team has won 15 straight games, the America East regular season title and the America East Championship.
Both teams are seeded 15th in their divisions in the first round of the NCAA. The UVM men’s team will compete against Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Friday, March 17 at 2:45 PM in Columbus, Ohio. The UVM women’s team will face the second-seeded University of Connecticut, which has won the national tournament 11 times, on Saturday, March 18 at 3 p.m. in Storrs, Connecticut.
Wishing luck to our GSB students! Follow the March Madness and see where you can catch the action at UVM's 2023 NCAA Tournament Central. Go Cats!
