March 28 - Unraveling Sustainability: The Research Seminar Series with Charles Cho
GSB's commitment to thought leadership is showcased through its Research Seminar Series, and this March, students are invited to a compelling presentation by Charles Cho, a leading scholar in sustainability accounting and reporting. This seminar provides a unique opportunity for students to delve into the critical intersection of business and environmental responsibility. Cho, Professor of Sustainability Accounting and the Erivan K. Haub Chair in Business & Sustainability at the Schulich School of Business, will present his research on "Shared imaginaries of sustainable development: The SDGs, their interconnectedness, and materiality assessment." His work delves into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as dialogic zones, examining how companies and stakeholders envision a sustainable future. Through a case study analysis of Nestlé’s sustainability report and the use of Twitter/X data, Cho highlights the challenges of achieving a collective vision for addressing grand challenges.

Sophie Ball-Dolan is a sophomore at the University of Vermont's Grossman School of Business, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a theme in sustainable business and a concentration in marketing. Complementing her business studies, she is also minoring in environmental studies. Her professional experience encompasses roles in multi-departmental leadership and associate positions at a local grocery store, co-founding Champlain Valley Union High School only Women in Business club, and her current position as a Marketing and Communications Intern at the Grossman School of Business. A native of Hinesburg, Vermont, her interests include reading, art, and spending time with family, friends, and pets.
