MVP Health Care is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Medco Health Solutions, Inc. to administer all MVP retail and mail order prescription drug programs beginning on January 1, 2007.
This change will result in better service for your employees and will enable us to better control the cost of prescription drugs.
Medco is the nation's leading pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) and is well-known for both customer satisfaction and for offering members a wide range of useful online services.
- Customer satisfaction: Medco Health Solutions, Inc. has been the top-rated PBM for customer satisfaction for the past five years, according to the 2005 Wilson Rx Pharmacy Benefit Satisfaction Survey.
- Online services: The Customer Respect Group named the Medco website (www.medco.com) Best Healthcare Site in 2004 and 2005. Members will be able to use new, exciting online tools that can check drug pricing, as well as compare prices between different drugs. Medco will offer the ability to check and track prescriptions that are filled through the mail. Members will be able to review mail service and retail prescription drug history, as well as expense summaries.
What this change means to employees who are members of MVP:
New ID cards
MVP members will need a new ID card to use their drug benefits after January 1, 2007. We will send them new cards later this year. We are telling members to keep using their current MVP ID cards until January 1, and then use their new cards for all their medical and prescription drug services on or after January 1.
New mail order procedures
Beginning on January 1, 2007, Medco will be our mail order pharmacy vendor. Members who have any current refillable (open) prescriptions with our current vendor (Express Scripts) will get simple instructions about how to continue to refill those prescriptions. Members who have prescriptions for compound drugs and controlled substances will need to get new prescriptions from their health care providers, and we will advise those members with specific letters prior to the change to Medco.
Most MVP members will not have to switch pharmacies. In the unlikely event that a member's pharmacy is not in Medco's large network, we will send that member a letter advising him or her of the need to change pharmacies, and will identify participating pharmacies in their area.
Formulary changes will continue to be handled in the same manner they have been in the past. MVP will send letters to affected members prior to any formulary changes, notifying them of their options.
Please take the time to review the information above. Any questions can be directed to your Account Manager at MVP or by calling 1-800-318-8575.
