Campus Area Transportation System

The Campus Area Transportation System (CATS) provides safe, sustainable, and convenient shuttle service to the UVM community (students, staff, and visitors). CATS buses are run by either compressed natural gas (CNG), Hybrid Electric/Diesel, or Diesel. The CATS system is accessible.

Prior to 11:00pm students may ride on the Green Mountain Transit buses. These rides are free of charge by presenting your valid UVM ID, courtesy of UVM Transportation and Parking Services.  Please refer to the GMT website for bus times and stops.

Catsride is a service that connects UVM's main campus with off-site UVM locations for faculty and staff. This service is available to all faculty and staff and serves offices, classrooms, and lab locations within a ten-mile radius of campus. 

Eligible Catsrides are scheduled on a first come, first served basis and can be scheduled up to a month in advance. Planning ahead guarantees you a ride at the most convenient time. To schedule a ride, you can contact us at catsride@uvm.edu or (802) 233-2594 if you need a ride the same day.

  • Email catsride@uvm.edu prior to 3:30pm the day before you need a ride.
  • The shuttle can wait no more than five minutes at a pick up.
  • Catsride is fully ADA accessible.

*Please note that in order to connect GMT's Montpelier and Middlebury Link Express service with our Colchester sites, Catsride will provide a daily pick up at 7:45am (Monday through Friday) at the UVM Medical Center stop.
