Join us April 17-23 for UVM’s annual celebration of the environment, sustainability, and the Earth itself! Saturday, April 22nd marks the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day – and UVM has been there from the beginning.

There’s a range of events to pique your interest and deepen your understanding and advocacy around sustainability, ecology and all things green.

Several events relate to reducing carbon emissions through transportation choices. Join the UVM Eco-Reps at the Davis Center Green on April 17, 2023 between 9-11 a.m. to pedal a smoothie bike and make a free vegan matcha smoothie to kick off Earth Week. Other breakfast treats will be available. In the Ride the Bus Earth Week Celebration representatives from the Office of Sustainability and Parking and Transportation Services will meet at the UVM Medical Center’s main transit stop (on the north side of Given). April 20th between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. They'll be handing out goodies to folks who are hopping on the bus. It will be an especially good day to plan to ride the bus home.

A highlight of Earth Week is the EcoFair, presented by the UVM Eco-Reps April 19th from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Davis Center Atrium. The event is an interactive fair featuring internal and external sustainability partners, focused on waste, transportation and food, providing sustainability information and resources at interactive tables. There will be giveaways including reusable menstrual cups, utensil kits, tote bags and stickers.

A special guest this year is reuse professional and filmmaker, Alex Eaves, who will have his Tiny House Reuse Box Truck on display outside the Davis Center for students to ask questions and see an active example of the innovation that can come from meshing sustainability and creativity. His documentary The Box Truck Film: Building a Reuseful Home will be streamed in Brennan's immediately after the fair, from 4:30-6 p.m. The screening will include free pizza, raffle prizes and a Q&A with Alex Eaves. View more details including the complete list of Eco Fair presenters.
