Lessons Learned from a Decade of Gravel Wetlands with the UNH Stormwater Center

Date/Time:
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Location:
Zoom—Registration Required

Subsurface flow gravel wetlands have emerged as one of the top performers for stormwater treatment, considering their ability to reduce sediment and nutrients while also offering long-term resilience. In this session, the UNH Stormwater Center will share lessons learned from over a decade of research, design, and implementation of this practice. We’ll explore key topics such as:

  • Results from monitoring the performance of gravel wetlands
  • Meeting phosphorus reduction criteria in challenging soils
  • Design and maintenance considerations for pollutant reduction
  • Funding pathways, including the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF)

This webinar will highlight how municipalities and organizations can take advantage of these practices and funding opportunities. While some examples discussed will be focused on Vermont, this webinar is open to all interested audiences across New England and beyond. Don’t miss this chance to learn directly from the UNH Stormwater Center about this effective stormwater treatment practice.

Register in advance for the webinar.

What is the New England Water Infrastructure Network (NEWIN)?

A program of the New England Environmental Finance Center (neefc.org), NEWIN helps communities access funding and technical support for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, with a focus on connecting capacity-constrained communities to State Revolving Fund resources.
