Orientation and Student Advancement

We’re excited to welcome you to UVM and support your transition with a comprehensive in-person New Student Orientation experience. Orientation is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students and is designed to help you explore campus life, connect with resources, build community, and HAVE FUN!

August 2025 - In-Person New Student Orientation

Orientation will be held August 20-24, 2025 for all new first-year and transfer students joining the UVM community in Fall 2025.

Fall move-in for new residential students will occur over two days: Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21. Move-in dates and times will be assigned by University Housing later this summer. Review the Fall 2025 Move-In Guide for updates and details.

*Participating in a UVM Pre-Orientation Program? Your move-in date may be earlier depending on your program. More details will be sent directly to participants.

Orientation starts at 3:00pm on both move-in days! After getting settled in your residence hall, you'll join your Orientation group to begin your UVM journey.

An optional in-person Family & Supporter Orientation program will be held on both move-in days. This event offers a warm welcome and helpful insights for families and supporters as students settle into life at UVM. January 2026 - In-Person New Student Orientation

Orientation will be held January 8-11, 2026 for all new first-year and transfer students joining the UVM community in Spring 2026 as a Winter Cat.
