Campus-Wide Surveys

Every three years, the Campus Climate Survey is administered and collects data on the perceptions and experiences of students, faculty and staff. 

Its key functions include measuring progress on key initiatives around inclusive excellence, identifying strengths, and areas for improvement. 

The data collected informs the development of strategic plans across the university aimed to achieve a more equitable and inclusive campus environment. Campus-Wide Surveys and Reports

The Career Outcomes Survey is administered annually and measures post-graduation success of undergraduate and graduate alum.

The survey includes the core National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) questions, their UVM experience, and engagement in high impact practices and services.

The Faculty Survey of Student Engagement survey aims to better understand how faculty perceive student engagement and experiences.

The survey is administered every three years to instructional staff who teach at least one undergraduate course.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is administered every three years to undergraduate students in their first and senior year.

The NSSE asks undergraduates about their participation in programs and activities to get a better sense of how undergraduates are spending their time and what are they gaining from their college experience. By participating in the NSSE, students get to provide feedback on how the university is performing and how their undergraduate experience can be improved. The survey asks students questions on these four categories:

1. Participation in dozens of educationally purposeful activities
2. Institutional requirements and the challenging nature of coursework
3. Perceptions of the college environment
4. Estimates of educational and personal growth since starting college

Use of NSSE Data

NSSE data can be used to examine student learning taking place inside and outside of the classroom by a range of users, including program assessment coordinators, academic advisors, academic leadership, student affairs professionals, and institutional research officers. As Deans, faculty, instructors, and academic advisors, you are active stakeholders in utilizing the results obtained from the NSSE.

Campus-Wide Surveys and Reports

The First Six-Weeks Survey is intended to identify challenges, measure student engagement and connections, and provide data for early intervention and program improvement.  

The First Six-Weeks Survey is distributed annually to first-time first year students in the sixth week of their fall semester. 

Monthly Measures is distributed in collaboration with Center for Health and Wellbeing. The purpose of the survey is to measure overall student health and wellbeing, including drug/alcohol use, mental health, and belonging. 

The survey is distributed monthly to a random sample of UVM students (undergraduate and graduate). A student will not receive the survey more than once in an academic year.
