Through focus groups and participation from across campus, project members have listened to student and employee wants and concerns. OIRA also connects the Project with the Data Governance Council to ensure that individual privacy needs are met across campus data systems.
About the Lived Identity Project
The mission of the Lived Identity Project is to humanize data infrastructures at the University of Vermont. Our vision is to develop student and employee data infrastructures with policies and practices that promote dignity, confidentiality, and fidelity.
There are five pillars that guide the Lived Identity Project:
Leadership: communicate, advocate, and forecast barriers for the project with campus partners.
Cultural: humanize data practices by educating and incorporating input from communities.
Policy: support data governance through policies concerning lived identity data use and access in partnership with Data Governance.
Technical: complement data modernization efforts to update or improve systems architecture.
Functional: gather perspectives to understand current data uses, complexities of data streams, including gaps and opportunities.
