Dear UVM Faculty and Staff: Chittenden County and Vermont are currently experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases. Chittenden county had 580 new cases within the last 14 days and recent new case counts across the state spiked to over 200 daily. This is resulting in a state-wide 2.9% positivity rate, which, while the best in the continental US, is the highest rate Vermont has seen to date.

We strongly encourage you to limit all unnecessary travel and social gatherings. Stay up to date about case numbers and use all recommended health prevention strategies. This is not the time to let your guard down.

We also want to strongly encourage faculty and staff to take advantage of free COVID-19 testing on campus.  This is an essential strategy in keeping UVM safe.  It is equally important for the health and wellbeing of your family and friends. The Testing Center is open Monday – Friday and testing hours are available here. Please use the Co-Verified App to schedule your testing time.

The Vermont Department of Health website can provide more details about cases and prevention strategies.

Sincerely,

Patricia Prelock, Provost and Senior Vice President
Gary Derr, Vice President for Operations and Public Safety
