Dear UVM Students,
We write today with important health safety updates for Fall 2021.
Masks Required Indoors: Effective immediately, all faculty, staff, students, and visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering indoors. UVM has developed helpful information and guidance on wearing masks. We will continue to monitor the rate of cases on campus, in Vermont, and across the region and adjust this requirement if conditions warrant.
Vaccinations: All students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a UVM-approved exemption. If you have not already provided the required proof, please do so now.
Pre-Arrival COVID-19 Test: We expect all students to arrange for a COVID-19 test before arriving on campus. Check with your state or regional health department or your primary care physician for testing locations in your area. If you test positive, contact UVM Student Health Services health@uvm.edu and they will work with you to make appropriate arrangements.
Day Zero COVID-19 Test:
- Students who live on campus are required to get a day zero test at the UVM COVID-19 Information and Service Center the day you move into your residence hall.
- Students who live off campus are required to complete a test between August 23, 2021, and your first class.
- Please note that students who return to UVM prior to August 23, 2021, regardless of where they live, are required to follow the testing instructions even if they have already been tested before August 23, 2021.
- Schedule your test using the CoVerified App. Students testing positive will be required to isolate for 10 days. UVM Student Health Service will contact you about isolation.
COVID-19 Testing Fall 2021: UVM will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing on campus for students at the UVM COVID-19 Information and Service Center located on the first floor of the Davis Center. Students with approved COVID-19 vaccine exemptions are required to test every 7 days. Students who are vaccinated may test if they wish to do so. Students are required to schedule their testing appointments through the CoVerified App and be asymptomatic. Information about the app is available on the website. Any student who is symptomatic or believes they may have COVID-19 should contact UVM Student Health Services at health@uvm.edu to arrange for a test. If you suspect you have COVID-19 or are confirmed positive, please stay home and do not go to class.
Quarantine: Currently, Vermont does not require fully vaccinated individuals to quarantine if they are exposed to COVID-19. Only those not fully vaccinated are required to quarantine. Any UVM student identified as a close contact through contact tracing is required to test within 48 hours of being identified as a close contact and again on day 7 whether you are vaccinated or not. UVM Student Health Services will be in touch with you to arrange testing.
Isolation: Students who test positive will be required to isolate for 10 days. UVM Student Health Services will be in touch with you regarding isolation.
The entire UVM community is counting on you to help keep our campus healthy and safe.
