What We Expect

Set Up for Success

Body

After scheduling your interview, be sure to update your personal calendar with the date and time. Please note that all interview times are in Eastern Time. If you reside in a different time zone, verify the conversion to avoid any confusion day of. We strongly recommend setting a reminder to ensure you are prepared and punctual.

Ensure you have access to a laptop or desktop computer (no tablets or smartphones). In advance of interview day, test your camera, microphone, and speakers and verify a strong, stable internet connection.

  • IMPORTANT: Log in to Kira Talent and complete your profile setup at least 48 hours prior to interview day. Complete the practice question to familiarize yourself with the platform. If you fail to complete these steps 48 hours prior to the start of interview day, you will not be permitted to interview, and your application will be removed from consideration. 

Dress to Impress

Body

While many medical school applicants have traditionally worn suits for interviews, we now recommend business casual attire, such as a blouse or collared shirt. However, if you feel more comfortable wearing a suit, that is perfectly acceptable.

Be on Time

Body

Punctuality is essential; late arrivals will not be permitted. We recommend logging into Zoom at least 5 minutes before the 10:00 am ET start time.

Keep Your Camera On

Body

Your camera must remain on for the entire interview day.

Engage Fully

Body

Active participation throughout the interview day is expected. Please ensure you are in a quiet, distraction-free environment that will allow you to be fully present and engaged. 

Communicate Proactively

Body

If you have a conflict that will prevent you from being fully present on interview day and wish to reschedule, you must notify us as soon as possible, with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Your request will be considered, but rescheduling is not guaranteed. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your interview.

As stated above, late arrivals will not be permitted. If you are not present for the start of interview day at 10:00 am ET, you must contact us within 24 hours to explain the circumstances that prevented your on-time attendance. We will follow up as soon as possible, though likely after interview day has concluded, as our focus will be on the event. If we do not receive communication from you within this timeframe, your application will be withdrawn from consideration.  

If you encounter technical difficulties, notify us immediately. Please call our main office (802-656-2154) to inform us of the issue(s) you are experiencing. 

Interviews can only be rescheduled due to extenuating circumstances and provided there is clear and timely communication with our office. Please contact lcom.admissions@med.uvm.edu.

If you decide not to proceed with the interview, we expect you to notify us as soon as possible (minimum 48 hours in advance) so that we can offer the opportunity to another qualified applicant.

Post-Interview Day

  • Attend the Admissions Ambassador Student Q&A Panels
    • Invitations will be sent out regularly to all interviewed applicants.
  • Make Your Campus Preference Selection
    • After completing your interview, this option will appear in the Application Portal (AMP).
  • Check Your Inbox Frequently
    • Monitor both your inbox and junk mail for updates and take action as prompted.  
Status

The Admissions Committee reviews applications several times per month. Candidates are notified of their status via email. Notifications are sent on a rolling basis, starting on or after October 15. Early Decision applicants will receive their notifications by October 1. 

Committee decisions are:

  • Admitted
  • Delayed Decision
  • Waitlisted
  • Not Accepted
