BIO
Julian Portilla is a Senior Mediator and Program Director at Meridian Institute. He has designed and facilitated complex, multistakeholder, consensus-building processes on issues as diverse as multilateral processes at the UN, disputes between Development Finance Institutions and communities affected by their investments, fisheries management, national park management, and international peace, conflict, and development. He has worked throughout Latin America — focusing primarily in Mexico, Haiti, Argentina, Nicaragua, and Columbia — as well as in the United States.
Julian lives in Vermont where he spends a lot of time mountain biking and skiing with his wife and three boys. On occasion, you might find him strumming a guitar around a campfire.
