The Kahn Research Award in the Humanities supports substantive research or creative projects with a significant humanities component. The nature and area of research are not set in advance by the Center, but applicants are required to indicate clearly both the significance and practicality of the projects for which they seek support, and, vitally, to explicitly delineate how their work will be advanced by an award.
The award amount for the Kahn Research Award will be no less than $5,000 but no more than $25,000; applicants will have two years from the time of completion to spend their award, with no possibility of extensions.
Uses of support are flexible but cannot include faculty salary support/replacement, teaching buyout, or summer salary but can include support for services or research assistance.
Eligible applicants include tenured, tenure-track, or library faculty of all UVM departments conducting research in the humanities or humanistic social sciences. Priority will be given to faculty in the humanities and arts.
Interested faculty members should submit applications electronically by October 1. Questions? Humanities.Center@uvm.edu
