Faculty Colloquium Series

Beginning in AY2526, the UVM Humanities Center hosts a monthly faculty colloquium series, highlighting the depth of research at UVM. The series will reflect the annual Center theme.

In AY2526, the Center faculty colloquium series takes up “borders/crossings,” in its broadest sense: for some researchers, these include political borders; for others, this indicates false boundaries between fields or ideas; for others still crossings might indicate historical, anthropological, or sociological crossings of norms, ways of being, or ways of knowing. We encourage faculty to think creatively and broadly about borders/crossings and bring questions and insight to colloquium meetings.

Colloquia will feature UVM faculty research related to borders/crossings during a lunchtime, hour-long session; faculty will present for no more than 20 minutes, and the remaining time will be for discussion and exchange. Colloquia will be held in the Humanities Center Conference Room (Billings 401). The Center will provide lunch for all participants, though RSVPs will be requested.

The borders/crossings colloquium series includes presentations from Maria Woolson (SWLC, Spanish), Michael Baysa (Religion), Peter Henne (Political Science), Charles-Louis Morand Métivier (SWLC, French) and Ghazah Abbasi (Sociology).

Keep a look out for this monthly series and check out the Humanities Center calendar for more details.
