Project Overview

CASTNET is a national monitoring network established to assess trends in pollutant concentrations, atmospheric deposition, and ecological effects due to changes in air pollutant emissions. Regional CASTNET dry deposition chemistry data from New York and northern New England are archived here.

Objectives

1) Assess trends in acid deposition. 2) Measure ambient concentrations of sulfur and nitrogen and rural ozone. 3) Provide air quality data specific to Class I Wilderness Areas, and support research on the effects of air pollution on the Air Quality Related Values (AQRV) of wilderness areas.
