What We Do

The Utility Engineering team within Facilities Management has oversight for utility planning and strategy development to ensure that current- and long-range needs for critical utilities are met with reliable, efficient and cost-effective systems. The team oversees all mechanical and electrical aspects of campus utility systems, completes energy and master utility planning, new major construction scoping and implements projects which:

  • Lower utility costs by reducing energy consumption,
  • Increase system reliability and efficiency,
  • Ensure system capacity meets campus demand, and
  • Address deferred maintenance on major utility infrastructure.

Work is completed in house and/or with contracted consulting engineers. Close coordination with the Executive Director of Facilities Management and FM partners in Planning, Design & ConstructionPhysical Plant and the Office of Sustainability is paramount in these efforts.
