The Utility Engineering unit within Facilities Management has oversight for utility planning and strategy development to ensure that current- and long-range needs for critical utilities are met with reliable, efficient and cost-effective systems.
What We Do
The Engineering team oversees all mechanical and electrical aspects of campus utility systems, completes energy and master utility planning, new major construction scoping and implements projects which:
- Lower utility costs by reducing energy consumption,
- Increase system reliability and efficiency,
- Ensure system capacity meets campus demand, and
- Address deferred maintenance on major utility infrastructure.
Work is completed in house and/or with contracted consulting engineers. Close coordination with the Executive Director of Facilities Management and FM partners in Planning, Design & Construction, Physical Plant and the Office of Sustainability is paramount in these efforts.
