BIO
As part of UVM extension, Brendan will be helping farmers and conservation organizations promote soil health and reduce nutrient leaching and runoff in the Connecticut River Watershed.
Brendan holds an M.S. in Plant Science from the University of Connecticut, as well as graduate certificates in GIS and College Instruction. He earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Rhode Island, where he also received a certification as a horticulturalist.
Prior to UVM, Brendan served as a Scientist in Advanced Characterization Biology at an agricultural biotech company where he led greenhouse, field, and lab experiments focused on soil science, environmental fate, and weed science research.
Before his industry role, Brendan’s research was based at the University of Connecticut, where he managed several soil health and water quality research projects in turfgrass systems. His research focused on soil mineralization testing and nitrogen and phosphorus leaching.
After graduating, Brendan taught Weed Ecology and Plant Pest Control courses as a lecturer at UConn. Earlier in his career, Brendan also worked on nursery and organic farm inspection at RI DEM.
