The following resource page is intended for Vermont Pitch Challenge student participants selected as finalists for the April 4th, 2024 in-person pitch event. 

Parents, Guardians, Team Supervisors/Chaperones, and Students, please read the following information carefully prior to your visit to campus. Without the following paperwork completed, students may not attend the in-person pitch event or be eligible for prizes or reimbursement.

If you are visiting Vermont from outside of the United States or are a Foreign National, please email Elora Ditton (elora.ditton@uvm.edu) with your country of origin for any additional documentation that might be required as soon as possible.

VT Pitch Day logistics

April 4th, 2024 

Pitches begin at 2 PM at the Jack and Shirley Silver Pavilion (Alumni House, 61 Summit Street, Burlington, VT 05401) 

Please contact Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu for parking information and passes. 

The University has reserved rooms for participants and their Adult Supervisors at the DoubleTree (870 Williston Road, South Burlington, VT 05403) for up to 3 nights (April 3rd - April 6th). These rooms include double beds and require families/supervisors to provide a credit card at check-in for an incidental hold. Room and tax will be covered by the University. One representative from each team should email Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu with your team's name, all team member names, the number of beds required, their confirmed adult supervisor who will be present at check-in, and their arrival and departure dates.

Student Supervision and Release

  • At all times on campus, students must be accompanied by at least one Parent/Guardian or Adult Sponsor (to be identified prior to attendance; please confirm with Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu who the Adult Sponsor will be for your team). Students may not be on campus without supervision.
  • Prior to your visit, each student and Parent/Guardian must review, sign and return this waiver (DOCX) to Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu.

Travel

Participants and their sponsors traveling to campus are entitled to a travel reimbursement of up to $600 USD each. Travelers flying to campus may book flights themselves or email Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu to have their flights booked for them. In order to receive a travel reimbursement, please submit the following via Secure File Transfer to Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu:

  • Receipts: all original, itemized receipts, including travel meals, must be included as documentation for any reimbursement of this nature due to IRS tax regulations. Original receipts can be dropped off to Waterman 300 prior to departure to Lindsey Troescher or scanned and emailed to Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu.
  • For US Citizens and resident aliens, please complete a W9 (DOCX) for the individual being reimbursed. 
  • For Foreign Nationals, please complete a W-8BEN (PDF). Please also send your passport information page, visa, and entry stamp (or I-94) pages.
  • If driving to campus with a personal vehicle, please complete a Sample Mileage Log (XLS) to be reimbursed for mileage
  • If you'd like to park on campus, please email Lindsey.Troescher@uvm.edu prior to your trip
  • Please ensure that names match on all documents. Please submit only one reimbursement per family (all reimbursement receipts should be in this family member's name as well as the W9/W8-BEN).

Prizes 

The team winning the Grand Prize (full Scholarship to the University of Vermont (Tuition and Comprehensive Fee)) will work with Admissions and Student Financial Services staff to receive their scholarship. 

Places 2 and 3 will receive $5,000 total per team (split between each team member and paid by check) and places 4 and 5 will receive a total of $1,000 per team (split between each team member and paid by check).

On the payment acknowledgement form:

  • If the student (under 18) is receiving the prize money, the student's name and SSN should be used with parent’s signature. 
  • If the student is over 18 and receiving the prize money, the student’s name, SSN and signature should be used.
  • If the parent is receiving the payment, the parent's name, SSN and signature should be used.
