Celebrate the Class of 2020

Congratulations! Join the celebration at go.uvm.edu/celebrate2020

Class of 2020:  We had hoped to share news by now regarding an official, in-person commencement celebration for you, but given the continuing and rapidly evolving nature of the pandemic and its impact across the country, the future remains unclear.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide more definitive information as soon as we are able.

Caps and gowns: These are all important mementos of your day. While the May 2020 commencement ceremonies did not occur as originally planned, we realize UVM graduates may still want the opportunity to take graduation photos with their well-earned cap and gown. Order here through May 31, 2020.

Programs: There will be a program available on May 17th during the UVM Class of 2020 Celebration, as well as an order form to have one sent to each interested graduate.

Diplomas: For local graduates, diplomas may be picked up at the Registrar’s Office counter located on the 3rd floor in the Waterman Building, starting on Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

How to pick-up diplomas - local grads

For local graduates, diplomas may be picked up at the Registrar’s Office counter located on the 3rd floor in the Waterman Building, starting on Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To ease congestion and practice safe social distancing, we ask that graduates adhere to the following schedule when picking up their diplomas:

  • Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27: graduates with last names starting with the letters A through L
  • Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29: graduates with last names starting with the letters M through Z

By Gubernatorial Executive Order and UVM Risk Management & Safety, the following social distancing measures and safety protocols must be followed while on UVM’s campus:

  • Face coverings must be worn in all buildings while individuals are in the presence of others and in common areas.
  • Physical distancing must be strictly observed and individuals should remain six feet apart.
  • Individuals should avoid congregating in groups
  • Individuals with symptoms of respiratory illness should stay home

All graduates picking up a diploma should enter the Waterman building via the South side entrance on South Prospect Street (closest front entrance to College Street).  All graduates picking up diplomas will be directed to exit out the front doors near the Registrar’s office.  See the map for visual reference.  Students who have mobility needs should call the registrar’s office in advance for assistance: 802-656-2045.

Graduates may park in the Waterman parking lot and College Street Visitor’s parking lot for diploma pick-up.  UVM parking passes are not needed during pick-up hours May 26 – May 29.

How to receive diplomas - not local grads

Remaining diplomas will be mailed during the second week of June. Questions regarding diplomas should be addressed to the registrar’s office 802-656-2045.

Degree Candidates are asked to confirm their post commencement mailing address by updating their permanent address through myUVM.
