BIO
Rachel Weinfeld (she/her) has found a home for herself as a versatile crossover singer in the opera and musical theatre worlds. Noted for her “outstanding comedic timing” and “heavenly soprano,” Rachel has had the opportunity to perform some of the genres’ great leading ladies including Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, Marian Paroo in The Music Man, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Phoebe D’Ysquith in Gentleman’s Guide, and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Last year, she was a semi-finalist in the prestigious Lotte Lenya Competition and made her Ohio Light Opera debut as Maria in the Sound of Music. On the concert stage, Rachel has sung “The Bench Scene” from Carousel alongside Nathan Gunn, and has also sung as a guest soloist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. She will return this summer to Ohio Light Opera to perform Julie Jordan in Carousel and Fiona MacLaren in Brigadoon.
Rachel has maintained a private voice studio since 2019 and has also been an affiliate voice teacher at the University of Vermont since 2021. Her goal as a voice teacher is to help each individual singer find their own unique voice. Blending vocal pedagogy with the psychology of singing, including trauma-informed and gender-affirming teachings, she works personally with each student to help build a genuine and lasting connection with their instrument. Rachel specializes in musical theatre and classical techniques, helping to build the bridge between healthy and sustainable vocal production and storytelling.
