Cameron Brownell graduated from SUNY Potsdam, The Crane School of Music with degrees in Music Education and Voice Performance and earned a master's degree in Sacred Music from the University of Notre Dame with a concentration in Voice Performance. His past teachers include Dr. Deborah Massell, Dr. Stephen Lancaster, and Prof. Carla Rae Cook. His singing credits include Crane Opera Company, Notre Dame Opera Company, College Light Opera Company, Seagle Music Colony, and Ohio Light Opera, where he performed musical theater and opera roles including The Baker in Into the Woods, Robert Martin in The Drowsy Chaperone, George M. Cohan in George M!, and Rick Driscoll in A Letter to East 11th Street.
Cameron has been the Chorus Teacher at CVU since 2020 where he directs the school’s choral ensembles and acts as Vocal Music Director for the CVU Co-Curricular Theater Program. In Fall 2024, Cameron also took on the role of K-1 Music Teacher at Shelburne Community School. In addition to his roles at CVU and SCS, Cameron is the Music Director at Charlotte Congregational Church and is the Assistant Conductor of Solaris Vocal Ensemble. Cameron lives in Williston with his husband, Chance Hicks.
