Julia Sukhanova

BIO

Julia Sukhanova began her academic journey in linguistics and education, where she developed a strong foundation in communication and analytical thinking - skills that later shaped her transition into business and finance. Earlier in her professional journey, she gained practical experience managing a retail convenience store, where she developed expertise in operations, customer service, and financial oversight. Today, she serves as Assistant Tax Manager at the University of Vermont, overseeing multi-state payroll and sales tax compliance, supporting tax withholding obligations for international payments, and leading reconciliation efforts across complex general ledger accounts. She also contributes to system enhancements and process improvements through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven analysis.

 

Julia holds a Master of Educational Leadership and a Master of Accountancy and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society. Fluent in English and Russian, she brings a global perspective shaped by diverse cultural and professional experiences. Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that learning thrives when curiosity meets commitment, and she strives to create an environment where students feel empowered to grow.

 

Outside of work, Julia enjoys gardening, cooking, exploring nature, and traveling.
