Now in its' 27th year of existence and with almost 600 members, the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) chapter at the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business, led by chapter president Professor Barbara Arel, all week invited the top 10% of juniors and seniors, and the top 20% of graduate students to join BGS for a lifetime membership.
Membership in BGS is the highest scholastic recognition a student can receive in an undergraduate or master’s program in business, and students who accept membership, will be inducted into the society during an induction ceremony on April 22 where graduating members will be able to wear the BGS cords at graduation.
This year we are honored to have UVM alumnus and BGS member, Richard Quad, as our guest speaker. Mr. Quad graduated magna cum laude from the School of Business in 1990 with a concentration in Finance. He is currently the Co-Head of Financial Institutions for the Griffin Financial Group where he provides investment banking services including sell-side, buy-side, capital markets, and related strategic and valuation services to financial institutions throughout the eastern part of the United States.
Professor Arel said "we decided to recognize our students in front of their peers this year by going into the classrooms and “tapping” the nominated students for induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, our international business honor society. We hope the tapping tradition will convey the sense of prestige an invitation to Beta Gamma Sigma should provide and increase the awareness of Beta Gamma Sigma amongst our students."
Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
