UVM Business School alum Charlene Begley has transitioned from her multi-faceted senior leadership role at GE to the next career stage -- applying her analytic prowess to the Boardroom. The Board of Directors at WPP, Red Hat, and NASDAQ now benefit from her presence and expertise.
During her most recent visit March 31st, she offered a humble account of her rapid rise at GE – moving through the FMP program to audit staff to running a $1 billion business to running a $5 billion business to being named to Fortune’s List of the 50 Most Powerful Women in 2007…..all before the age of 40.
From the many insights she offered, three appear to be especially useful for students, business leaders and faculty alike:
(1) Be inquisitive.
(2) Learn by listening to others.
(3) Know what matters to you and live accordingly.
