Student Accessibility Services (SAS) helps students get the disability and accessibility accommodations they need to thrive at UVM.
SAS Services
- Accommodations: Assistance with academic, housing, dining, parking, and Emotional Support Animal (ESA) accommodations.
- Support Services: Access to assistive technology, alternative formats, and other UVM resources.
- Advising and Advocacy: Guidance on navigating UVM’s policies, procedures, and resources.
Important Updates for Fall 2025
- Students sending accommodation letters for the first time must first complete the SAS Workshop Training Confirmation.
- SAS is currently receiving a high volume of requests as the academic year begins. Please allow for a longer response time than usual for phone calls and emails.
- University Housing may not be able to process eligible disability-related housing requests from SAS from mid-August through mid-September. Please keep in mind that the deadline for incoming students to request housing accommodations for Fall 2025 was 6/1/25 to ensure timely implementation and room availability ; the deadline for returning students was 2/25/25.
- Students requesting appointments and/or documentation review at the beginning of the Fall semester should be prepared for a wait of up to 14 business days as we experience peak volume through mid-September.
- Currently, we are working with Read and Write to fix the software issues. Our office is working to get it up and running again, so we appreciate your patience as we figure things out. In the meantime, please refer to the Read and Write page for some alternative ways to use text to speech feature.
