Welcome to the University of Vermont’s Office of Accessibility Services, where UVM students, staff, and faculty come to get accessibility support and disability accommodations.

Mission

The Office of Accessibility Services provides accommodations, services, policies, and updates. These resources promote equity, remove barriers, and support a campus culture of belonging.

The Office of Accessibility Services ensures an inclusive, accessible environment where all members of the UVM community can fully participate. We provide accommodations, services, and initiatives that promote equity, remove barriers, and support a campus culture of belonging in alignment with the ADA and Section 504.

Vision

OAS envisions a campus where accessibility is embedded in all aspects of university life, empowering individuals with disabilities to thrive without barriers. We aim to lead in accessibility through continuous improvement, universal design, and a culture that prioritizes inclusion.

How OAS Fits Into the University Organization

The OAS is part of the Center for Academic Success, under the Office of the UVM Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Student Success.

Student Accessibility Services

Student Accessibility Services is located in Living/Learning building A170. This means the office is on the ground floor of Living/Learning Building A. If you enter Living Learning building A from the west, on the ground floor, follow the hallway to the right until you see the sign for SAS on our door. 

Hours

SAS is generally open from 9am - 4pm EST, Monday - Friday. SAS is not open on holidays. You can also make appointments to meet with the Student Accessibility Specialists at a time and day that work best for you.

Exam Proctoring Center

The Exam Proctoring Center is located on UVM’s Athletic Campus in Living/Learning A Building.  Our main office is located in Living/Learning A131 and our testing rooms are down the hall.

The easiest way to find the Exam Proctoring Center is to enter Living/Learning A Building from the door across the sidewalk from the Skinny Pancake entrance.  Turn left down the hallway to the left of the two restroom doors and the main office door (A131) is on the right.

Hours

During the academic year, the Exam Proctoring Center is open:

Monday through Thursday:  8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Exam Proctoring Center is open all days of the year that UVM is open. During the summer and other academic recesses, the Exam Proctoring Center is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..

The Exam Proctoring Center is closed on weekends and any days that the University is closed.

Universal Design Technology Lab

The Universal Design Technology Lab is located on the second floor of the Howe Library, to the north of the Davis Center. If you come up the main Howe Library staircase, or use the main Howe Library elevator (next to the Circulation Desk), turn to the east, and head along the floor. Our office door will be in front of you, slightly to the right.

Hours

Anytime UVM is open, the Universal Design Technology Lab is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m.
