Dr. Mokhtari joined the faculty of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA), National Defense University (NDU) in Washington DC in 2002. He had previously taught at Norwich University in Vermont from 1983. His expertise and interests include Comparative Politics, modern Iran, the Persian Gulf region, the Middle East, Southeast and East Asia, Regional Security, Foreign Policy, International Relations and Good Governance. He has taught International Relations, Public Policy Administration, Political Economy, and Political Philosophy. He served as faculty member and policy advisor to the national policy-making community at NESA, prepared, coordinated, facilitated and conducted seminars and workshops on strategic, operational, national and international security issues for senior U.S. and foreign participants including flag officers and civilians of ambassadorial rank. He developed and directed bilateral and multilateral programs to promote interaction with countries of Near East & South Asia to advance understanding of U.S. policy and deepen mutual cooperation. Maintained contact with program alumni and promoted outreach in governmental, academic and civil society circles. His recent book, In the Lion's Shadow: The Iranian Schindler and his homeland in the Second World War, published in Europe in 2011, will be launched in the United States in April 2012.
