Health Professions Portfolio & Readiness Assessment Discussion
*PBPM and MMS students should consult with their program’s advisors regarding the available application support
For simplicity, the following information assumes application to allopathic (MD) medical school. Deadlines and metric requirements may vary (slightly or significantly) for candidates for dentistry, optometry, and osteopathic or podiatric medicine. These candidates, as well, those who have identities underrepresented in medicine, should discuss their professional plans with the Health Professions Advisor at the time of enrollment in the Health Professions Portfolio (HPP) Blackboard site.
Health Professions Portfolio (HPP)
All juniors, seniors & alums considering application to medical school are encouraged to develop their HPP by enrolling in the HPP Blackboard site, ideally after attending an information session in October. If you were not able to attend, you may still enroll, but you are urged to thoroughly read and follow all instructions within the Bb site and the Portfolio itself.
Note: Within a week of submitting your enrollment form, you should find the Health Professions Portfolio site listed in Bb under “ORGANIZATIONS” (not Courses).
Drop-in to work on your Portfolio with others, and to troubleshoot issues with the help of Peer Leaders and Health Professions Advisor, at the HPP Blackboard Labs held in The Hub every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 1:30pm. The first draft of your HPP will be due in mid-January for those planning to participate in the Committee Letter Process -- so we encourage you to get an early start on creating your Portfolio.
Readiness Assessment Discussion (RAD)
A Readiness Assessment Discussion with the Health Professions Advisor is available to all candidates who submit a draft of their HPP. RAD is required for those seeking a Committee Letter and will occur in January, February, or March. For those completing an HPP but not participating in CLP this cycle, the RAD is available at any time after submission of the HPP.
