Lottery Process Overview:
We are going to make 50 Gutterson Only permits and 30 Resident Purple permits available to sophomores and above that live in the Resident Red area via a lottery. Resident Purple permit holders will be required to park on Trinity campus or at Jeanne Mance – no exceptions. If you are not interested in having a permit in the Resident Purple parking areas, then please do not sign up for this lottery. ONLY sign up if you are willing to park anywhere in the Purple Zone.
Permit rate information for all permit types can be found on our Student Permit page. The odds of getting a permit depend on how many students end up signing up for the lottery in each residential area of campus.
Registration for the lottery is NOW OPEN and will remain open until Monday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m.; winners will be randomly selected and notified via email by the end of that day.
The chosen students will have until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8 to purchase their permit. Any unsold permits will be randomly selected by lottery again, and those chosen students will be notified by email. Any students that are unsuccessful in this drawing will be notified by email.
How To Sign Up For The Lottery:
If you would like to participate in one or both lotteries, please visit the parking portal, select “Permits” and you will see a button to join the permit lottery.

Permit lottery eligibility requires a class standing of Sophomore or above (a minimum of 27.0 completed academic credits, as defined by the University). First-year students are not eligible for residential permits. Information regarding parking exceptions is available on the TPS website.
There are no lot-specific permits. Permits are sold by residential area zones only. Regrettably, we cannot guarantee that you will always have a spot in the lot next to your residence.
Students with state-issued Accessibility Placards must register their placard with UVM Transportation & Parking Services. Guidance regarding accessible parking on campus can be found online.
Think carefully and plan accordingly regarding transportation alternatives in the event you cannot purchase a permit. You must not bring a vehicle to campus if you have not purchased a permit in advance. Vehicles parked on campus without the proper permit will be subject to parking violations, which can be avoided with proper planning.
**NOTE: Under no circumstances are you allowed to register a vehicle that belongs to another student or their family, nor are you allowed to use another student’s permit.
Any student found in violation of this policy will have their permit and their parking privileges revoked for the entirety of the academic year. ALL participants involved will be held accountable and no refunds will be granted to the people involved. Please contact our office with any questions.
