2026 Thanksgiving Recess and Semester Break Employee Parking Guidance
Thanksgiving Recess: November 23 – 27 // Semester Break: December 14 – January 18
Parking rules and regulations remain in effect during both break periods listed above except for the university’s Administrative Holiday schedule.
During the dates listed above, employee permits will be valid in any Resident Purple or Resident Red student lot. As usual, vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit or ParkMobile payment.
Leaving a Motor Vehicle on Campus While Away
Except for employees residing in campus housing, faculty/staff are not allowed overnight parking unless authorized in advance by the university (usually for university business travel). Vehicles parked overnight without authorization may be towed without notice. Please email parking@uvm.edu or call 802-656-8686.
Reminder, the upper deck of the Gutterson Garage is posted as closed to overnight parking from Nov. 15th through April 1st. If you reside in campus housing and need to leave your motor vehicle parked while you are away, it must have a valid permit and be parked within the interior levels of the Gutterson Garage to allow for snow removal and maintenance.
Daily Parking Needs
During the dates listed at the top of this page, all employee permits will be allowed parking in student Red and Purple campus parking lots. Parking lots for zone Black, Yellow, Green and White permits continue to be restricted to permit holders for those areas only.
Please watch for signs and your UVM email indicating lot closures, snow removal and maintenance. There will be drainage work in the MAT lot during the week of Thanksgiving; the row furthest from the building will be CLOSED for parking during that week.
Need help with a jumpstart or lockout while parked on campus? Call us at 802-656-8686 during our business hours. After hours, including weekends and administrative holidays please call Spillane’s Service Center at 802-863-7900. There is no charge for this service while parked on University of Vermont campus property.
Thanksgiving Break exceptions end with rules and regulations back in effect on the first day of classes, November 30. Semester Break exceptions end with rules and regulations back in effect on the first day of classes January 19.
