Dear Potential New Member,
Welcome to UVM Panhellenic Primary Recruitment- we are so glad you’re here! In high school, it had never crossed my mind to go through recruitment and join a sorority in college. Once I got to the University of Vermont as a freshman, I decided to go through recruitment in hopes of finding my place and my people. Now, as I begin my senior year and serve as the Vice President of Recruitment and Membership, it has been amazing to be on the other side of this process. Being a part of UVM Panhellenic has transformed both my college experience and my life as a whole, and I feel beyond lucky for the friendships and memories that this community has brought me. The relationships I’ve built within my chapter and across the Panhellenic community have become some of the most meaningful, loyal, and lasting friendships in my life.
All year long, the team and I have been working hard to create a recruitment experience that is supportive and welcoming. Recruitment can feel intense or stressful at times, and that is completely ok, but you will always have someone in your corner cheering you on. Your Rho Gammas are here to support you, answer your questions, and help guide you towards whatever chapter feels most like home to you. The best advice I can give is to be yourself. As simple as it may sound, being yourself will give the people you meet a chance to see you and love you for everything that you are, and the connections you make will be that much stronger.
This weekend has the potential to be truly life-changing, and I can’t wait for you to go through all of the excitement, connection, and magic that recruitment has to offer. No matter where this journey takes you, I hope you leave this experience feeling empowered and surrounded by new friendships that will last a lifetime.

The University of Vermont College Panhellenic operates under a comprehensive set of Bylaws that guide its governance and decision-making. In addition, the Panhellenic Council upholds specific guidelines that all chapters and their members are expected to follow. These standards are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and well-organized recruitment experience for everyone.

FAQs About Registration & Recruitment
How much does it cost to participate in recruitment?
Registration cost for Fall Primary recruitment is 50 dollars. You must pay your recruitment fee when you register through CampusDirector.
What should I wear to recruitment?
Be comfortable! Casual attire is expected throughout recruitment except for on preference day. Remember that you’ll be moving around and standing so we discourage you from wearing uncomfortable shoes or heels at any point during the weekend.
What is the MRABA?
MRABA stand for Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement. The MRABA is signed before final selections are made during Preference round. It’s a binding agreement that must be signed at the completion of recruitment in order for a potential new member to receive a bid of membership from a sorority.
How much of a time commitment is being in a sorority?
Each sorority has basic time commitments and mandatory events such as chapter meetings and New Member meetings. Time commitment for being a sorority member can vary from person to person depending on chapter positions and outside commitments. But many sorority members are able to manage sorority responsibilities with jobs or internships, academics and involvement in other campus organizations. Don’t be afraid to ask members during recruitment about how they manage their time between sorority and personal life!
If I participate in Primary Sorority Recruitment, am I obligated to join a chapter?
There is no obligation to continue the process if you do not want to. The recruitment process is structured to allow potential new members interested in sorority membership to explore Panhellenic, and see if it is the right fit.
Should I participate in Fall sorority recruitment or informal recruitment?
Participating in either fall sorority recruitment or informal recruitment is a personal preference. During fall sorority recruitment you are able to meet every chapter on campus. During informal recruitment, potential new members are only able to visit the chapters who are eligible and participating. This may only be one or two organizations.
If I have conflicts with the recruitment dates, what should I do?
For any conflicts or scheduling issues please email panhellenicrecruitment@uvm.edu. Someone from the recruitment team will follow up with you.
