Quick instructions
In most desktop web browsers, to open menus used to clear your cache, cookies, and history, you can press:
- Windows:
Ctrl + Shift + Delete
- macOS:
Command(⌘) + Shift + Delete
If this successfully opens the menu to clear browsing data, you may need to select options for what to clear and what time range. You generally should select at least cache and cookies and the maximum time range possible. (Options will depend on your browser.)
If this shortcut doesn’t work, follow the specific instructions for your browser in the section below.
- If you’re unsure what browser version you’re using – locate the menu and look for .
- If you don’t see instructions below for your specific version or browser, search your browser’s menu for “clear cache“.
Browser specific instructions
Chrome
To clear data from all sites
- In the browser bar, enter:
chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
- Select Cookies and other site data from the list. You can leave the other options unchecked.
- From the Time Range drop-down menu, select .
- Click .
- Fully close and re-open Chrome.
To clear from UVM only
- Go to https://uvm.edu.
- Click the options button to the left of the address bar.
- In the dropdown menu, click Cookies and site data, then Manage on-device site data.
- In the resulting popup, in the Data from the site you’re visiting section, click the trash bin icon to the right of each URL.
Firefox
To clear data from all sites
- Click the Library button then select > .
- If the menu bar is hidden, press
Alt
to make it visible.
- If the menu bar is hidden, press
- From the drop-down menu, select .
- Under History, select the following:
- Browsing & Download History
- Cookies
- Cache
- Click OK. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.
To clear from UVM only
- Go to https://uvm.edu.
- Click the padlock icon to the left of the address bar.
- In the dropdown menu, click Clear cookies and site data….
- Click Remove in the resulting popup.
Safari
- While in Safari, select History > Clear History at the top of the screen.
- From the Clear drop-down menu, select .
- Click Clear History, then close and reopen the browser.
Microsoft Edge
To clear data from all sites
- In the browser bar, enter:
edge://settings/clearBrowserData
- Select the following:
- Browsing history
- Download history
- Cookies and other site data
- Cached images and files
- From the Time Range drop-down menu, select .
- Click Clear now, then close and reopen the browser.
To clear from UVM only
- In the browser bar, enter:
edge://settings/siteData
- In the Search cookies field, enter “uvm.edu”.
- Click Remove all shown.
Microsoft Edge (Legacy)
- From the Edge menu (ellipsis in the top right corner), select Settings.
- Click Choose what to clear under Clear browsing data.
- Select the following:
- Browsing history
- Cookies and saved website data
- Cache data and files
- Download history
- Click Clear, then close and reopen the browser.
Internet Explorer 11
- From the

Opera

- In the dialog box that opens, select the items you want to clear, and then

Android
Note: The steps to clear your cache, cookies, and history may differ depending on the model of your Android device and your preferred browser.
You should be able to clear your cache and data from your application management settings menu:
- Go to and choose or .
- Swipe to the tab.
- In the list of installed apps, find and tap your web browser. Tap and then . Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.
Apple iOS
- Open your Settings app.
- Tap .
- Tap and confirm. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.
